“If we had more access to the wider cultural arts community, would our work grow? If consumers and appreciators of our performance art and writing, beyond ourselves, actually knew that we existed, and we were able to discuss our work, would we grow? If we stopped being so defensive about being left out, would we read more, would our work improve? Would we take more creative risks? For the love of god, would we learn how to write more than one draft of our performance poems? Is it because we have so few role models or writers, that we are starved for recognition, anything we can get? If we had more choices, would we be less afraid to be critical of what was out there? Most importantly, could we get beyond the sentimental?”
